HARPO RELEASES SINGING TELEGRAM
A LOVE MESSAGE FROM 1969

Harpo is back with new music. The new single Singing Telegram has been more than fifty years in the making – from its first spark in 1969 to the finished track in 2025.

“It started as a song title I wanted to write for my girlfriend. I just knew it had to be written on electric guitar,” says Harpo.

Singing Telegram is the second single from Harpo’s upcoming album Retro Store – a collection of songs that look back while telling something new. The classic Harpo pop feel is still there – along with the playfulness and melodic sincerity that shaped hits like Moviestar, Horoscope, and Motorcycle Mama.

The song carries the spirit of early ’70s London, where Harpo spent time as a songwriter at the legendary RAK Records – surrounded by names like producer Mickie Most and the hit-making duo Chin & Chapman.

“I used to quietly position myself near them at the pub after work – just to listen. Singing Telegram is my nod to the sound I absorbed back then.”

Now the song is finally here – dedicated to Harpo’s former girlfriend, now his wife of 55 years.

“Singing Telegram is for her. And for everyone holding on to a song that’s been waiting to come to life.”
